Character is doing what you know is right when…
We’ve all heard the saying that goes, “Character is doing the right thing even when nobody is watching.” Well, okay, I can buy that. I’ve got one more for you, though:
Character is doing what you know is right, even when everyone is watching and you know they won’t like it.
Congratulations to Miss California for winning the Miss USA pageant!
She won it in my book. I don’t care what you think of her belief; she didn’t sell out, even when she pretty much knew that it would cost her the dream she has pursued and sacrificed for. Ladies and gentlemen, that’s character. I’ve got to tell you that I’ve never had a beauty queen for a hero, but I do now.
It’s kinda like CJ standing up to being threatened with an IG by some Zwienie. In a bathing suit.
Check our Perez Hilton’s crap in the linked story. The audacity of hypocrisy.
I hope that she signs up for next year’s Soldiers’ Angels Pinup Calendar. Miss California, that is… not Perez Hilton.
I made that up about the calendar. They don’t have one. Yet. *hint hint*

My thought: maybe there’s hope for the state of California after all…
I don’t think she did it knowing she’d lose here crown, I think she just did it because of her beliefs.
She got ripped on the oafish way she answered, but recall that she wasn’t on that stage for her technical acumen. Although I disagree with her, bully for her in saying how she feels with a nod toward how she was raised!
NY-David
Wonderfully said ANDY!! She is the winner in my book because she spoke her opinion; regardless of the consequences. That fag asked her and she responded with her heartfelt opinion. Was she supposed to lie and give an answer that “he” was desiring? Absolutely NOT!! And for him to call her filthy names; that shows his mentality. But we do have to remember those people are different and led by someone other than our Lord. Our bible says “marriage is between a man and a woman” and you will never convince me of anything else. I do have friends and relatives that have gone down that road but that is their right and I respect that but I do not have to accept it as a way of life myself. Miss CA made my heart soar with her answer!!!
What’s irritating me most about this isn’t her opinion – that’s neither here nor there as far as I’m concerned. It’s the fact that people are ripping her up one side and down the other for this. She stood up for what she believed in – good for her. Maybe she didn’t speak as eloquently as people would’ve liked, but she was put on the spot w/a controversial question asked by a flamboyantly gay man without the help of a magic teleprompter to help her carefully word her response. Good for her for being true to who she is, what she believes in and not backing down. If more people lived by that simple principle, this country (world) would be a different place.
It’s amazing that this young lady is being maligned for her beliefs, beliefs that a majority of Americans hold with her. Her home state voted down prop-8, yet Hollyweird is coming out and acting as if she is the lone opponent. I have been boycotting Hollyweird for a while now, and it’s showing me that I have good reason. Kudos to her for keeping to her morals, and beliefs. Free speech hasn’t died, no matter how hard the left and Hollyweird want it to.
