President Continues to Ignore Terrorism

President Obama’s address to the nation today was both surprising and expected in its content. Naturally, he would want to talk about the G-20 and NATO summits he attended earlier this week. He proclaimed that America must lead the way to confront the challenges threatening the world.

“It was heartening that our NATO allies united in Strasbourg behind our strategy in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and contributed important resources to support our effort there,” said the President during his address.

Yup, they were certainly “united” BEHIND our strategy, but they were far from “contributing” much of anything. President Obama came away from the summit with a pledge for 5,000 additional troops to efforts in Afghanistan. The United States ALONE is sending more than double that in to assist with stability and counter-insurgency operations there.

NATO is made up of 28 member states, including the United States. Not counting the United States, the other 27 nations contain more than 586 million people. Assuming only 1% of this population evens serves in the military, that means there is a military population of 5.86 million troops out there in NATO. As a result of his “leading the way”, NATO promised a whopping 5,000 troops, most of whom are trainers and not combat troops. That’s less than one tenth of one percent of ALL the troops that NATO has to offer! 0.08%!!

He continues in his address, “It is only by coordinating with countries around the world that we will stop the spread of the world’s most dangerous weapons.” By we, of course, he meant the United States.

In a surprising departure from his Administration’s policy, the President dared to utter the word “terrorists”. I didn’t think terrorists existed anymore? Aren’t we in a Global War on Overseas Contingency Operators now?

Naturally, the important issue of piracy was the central theme in President Obama’s address today. He used his weekly address as an opportunity to assure the American people that he was doing everything in his power to secure the safe return of the American hostage by pirates off the coast of Somalia. Oh wait, that’s what he SHOULD HAVE DONE!! Not ONCE in his address did he even so much as mention it! Not once!! The pirates have called in reinforcements, we have battle ships in the area, someone is probably going to die on one side or the other, and it doesn’t even warrant a mere mention. The President won’t assure the American people that he is in charge and warn the pirates that we WILL take appropriate actions.

Troy, this is just another addition to your “amateur hour” post. We don’t have a President. We have a community organizer pretending to be one while enjoying free room and board on our dime!
