Stockholm Syndrome: Obamacare-style
Stockholm Syndrome is the phenomenon where a captive begins to rely on and eventually supports the goals of the captor. When the U.S. passed legislation for income tax, the populace rebelled, because it was unconstitutional. The government assured Americans that it was a temporary necessity. Then when the government got accustomed to all that cash, they began doling it out to citizens so that we felt grateful to receive mere scraps of what we had earned. Eventually, we became reliant and supportive of the system.
Obamacare will be much the same, but it will happen much more quickly. Obama and his sycophantic legion will advance on America, via college townhalls and the media (the only places who still cheer his presence), and deploy the phalanx of sound bites and handouts. We will be glad for a tax break which allows us to only pay $800 per month of the normally $1400 per month plan when, prior to the bill’s passage, we paid only $400 per month for our more comprehensive insurance plan.
The dye is set. We will be yapping at Obama’s table, fighting for scraps of gristle when we used to sit at the table and eat steak. The word “expat” never sounded so good.
