About Army Sergeant

Army Sergeant is the nom de plume of Selena Coppa, an active duty military intelligence sergeant in the United States Army, as well as the head of the GI Outreach Committee for Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW). She is active in numerous other service-member and veteran’s organizations, including the VFW, AUSA, SWAN, and many more.

Army Sergeant was born in Brooklyn, New York, to a heavily military family and is proud to have entered service under “Be All You Can Be” rather than the poorly-conceived “Army of One”. She has reenlisted three times since her initial enlistment as a 98J in 2000. She is the author of a military blog, Active Duty Patriot, and has been featured in print, radio and TV interviews, as well as some documentaries. She also chaired the Military Breakdown panel at IVAW’s Winter Soldier in March 2008.

She is currently posted in Germany.
