It seems that all those things that President Bush did may not have been so bad. I wonder where Code Pink, Huffington Post and Daily Kos are now?

(Emphasis below is mine)

Congress on Thursday passed a four-year extension of post-Sept. 11 powers to search records and conduct roving wiretaps in pursuit of terrorists. Votes taken in rapid succession in the Senate and House came after lawmakers rejected attempts to temper the law enforcement powers to ensure that individual liberties are not abused.

Following the 250-153 evening vote in the House, the legislation to renew three terrorism-fighting authorities headed for the president’s signature with only hours to go before the provisions expired at midnight.

With Obama currently in France, the White House said the president would use an autopen machine that holds a pen and signs his actual signature. It is only used with proper authorization of the president. Minutes before the midnight deadline, the White House said Obama had signed the bill.
Obama said he was pleased the act had been extended.

Not only did he extend it, he did it remotely with a high speed autopen machine that can sign his signature. So while he is in France he is telling his Michael Moore and America hating supporters that he doesn’t care why they put him in office, he is going to do what is neccesary to secure this country.

I applaud him for being a wise man and leading with what he knows is right and not with his pride. This is not the first time he has extended it, this is the second time.

I also think this is a great example that it is easy to throw darts from the sidelines at the man in the chair, but why one shouldn’t. President Obama had not been enlightened to all the intelligence and security details prior to being sworn in, but now that he has been in the office and gets those daily intelligence updates he knows why President Bush did so many of the things he did after 9/11/01.

Now Obama would really impress me if he got in front of the podium just one time and rather than blaming Bush, gave him credit and applauded all that he had done.

The video below is of LTG (RET) W.G. Boykin. LTG Boykin is one of the most combat exprienced Generals still alive today. He has been involved with and on the ground in every known combat action this country has dealt with since the Desert One Raid in 1979 trying to rescue the American hostages in Iran. Panama, Desert Storm, Somalia, Operation Enduring Freedom, and on and on. He has been involved in some that are not even known. As a former commander of Delta Force and actually in the first training class for Delta force back in 1978 he has been there and done it like nobody else. You can learn more about him at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_G._Boykin.

I had the privilege of talking to him and interviewing him last year on YouServed Radio soon after his book, Never Surrender, was released. It was a true honor to talk to him and I am still humbled to this day. Watch the video below to learn a little from LTG (ret) Boykin about Marxism and its influence into America today.

I am sorry, but what has the UN done for us lately? What? Someone please comment and tell me what good they have contributed to the American People.

They are nothing but a place for us to sink money into and waste money on. When we need to deal with foreign governments and heads of state we deal with them directly. We don’t go through the UN.

When we do get the UN to create mandates calling for action on behalf of other countries nobody listens to them. It was the UN that created the mandate which resulted in Operations Northern Watch and Southern Watch in the years after the Persian Gulf War. Saddam repeatedly tried to shoot down our fighters and the fighters of our closest allies. The UN did nothing against him for trying that. The UN sanctioned the mandate that opened the door for us to go into Iraq and take Saddam out and remove his regime. Yet very few UN member countries participated or even stuck around that long. It was a UN resolution 1441 that allowed us to go into Iraq and remove him with a degree of international acceptance.

United Nations Security Council Resolution 1441 is a United Nations Security Council resolution adopted unanimously by the United Nations Security Council on November 8, 2002, offering Iraq underSaddam Hussein “a final opportunity to comply with its disarmament obligations” that had been set out in several previous resolutions (Resolution 660, Resolution 661, Resolution 678, Resolution 686,Resolution 687, Resolution 688, Resolution 707, Resolution 715, Resolution 986, and Resolution 1284).

Yet many, if not most of the UN members condemned us for that and have ever since early 2003.

Now they applaud this piece of trash, oxygen stealing, 1979 US Embassy storming radical when he walks in, yet worse when he makes the outlandish claim that 9/11 was an inside job?

He was greeted by applause when he walked into the United Nations General Assembly, and applauded again, even after questioning 9/11 and claiming that the American government may have been behind the attack.

If I was President for a day, I swear I would tell the UN to pack their sh!t and don’t let the door hit them on the way out. They can move that big building to France or Syria or better yet why not Tehran.

I was going to write about this topic myself, but they I saw Uncle Jimbo’s video and figured I couldn’t say it any better than he did. He has such a way with words. How could I do better than this? Caution- Uncle Jimbo uses some salty language.

The CinC made a surprise visit to the combat zone yesterday, as most CinC’s are prone to do…this time to Afghanistan. In his predictable pep rally speech to assembled US forces, he made two statements that caught my eye and made me question the truth behind the rhetoric.

“If this region slides backwards,” Obama told the troops, “if the Taliban retakes this country, al-Qaida can operate with impunity, then more American lives will be at stake, the Afghan people will lose their opportunity for progress and prosperity and the world will be significantly less secure.

“We know there’s going to be some difficult days ahead, there’s going to be setbacks. We face a determined enemy, but we also know this: the United States of America does not quit once it starts on something. We will prevail, I am absolutely confident of that.”

We won’t quit? Ever?

We will never assess a situation as not being worth the national treasure of our nation….that once we start down a path, we shall not waver….even though logic and reason may dictate otherwise? Where is the rationale for a Taliban regime to again harbor Al Qaeda? The Taliban and Al Qaeda share little in common strategically, but they are intelligent enough to realize that they would quickly lose power once again by hosting the terror group. Add to this the feelings of betrayal and mistrust between Afghan and the ‘foreign Arabs’.

Recently counter-terrorism analyst turned academic Leah Farrall interviewed Islamic militant Abu Walid al-Masri, a longtime jihadist close to both Mullah Omar and Osama bin Laden. From this interview Farrall writes:

In his most recent letter to me, where he responded to an article I wrote for The Australian on al-Qa’ida’s Afghanistan strategy, he dropped the loudest bomb of all. He tells me the Taliban will no longer welcome al-Qa’ida in Afghanistan. Their return would make matters more complicated for the Taliban because “the majority of the population is against al-Qa’ida”.

According to Abu Walid, the differences between al-Qa’ida and the Taliban are greater now than they were before the war. Not only is al-Qa’ida unwelcome in Afghanistan but so are other salafist groups who previously operated in the country.

He believes that disassociation is required. He tells me “if the link between the Taliban and al-Qa’ida is not broken the results will be bad for the Taliban and Afghanistan”. And he thinks that the Taliban should also move away from the salafist movement so it can be liberated “from all of the restrictions that hinder its political options”. The Austrailian

A withdrawal would of course provide short term propaganda to Al Qaeda, but in hollow rhetoric. A truly fervent jihadi will be drawn to the cause no matter the situation, but for all other financing and recruitment, a compelling threat must be conveyed to potential fighters and backers. By de-legitimizing Al Qaeda as a military threat, and as the overwhelming threat to western civilization…….and removing the perceived threat to Muslims [occupations], we take away that compelling threat that motivates many jihadi’s.

Here’s the question more Americans should be asking…..why aren’t factually based analysis’ entering into the national debate? Why do we accept the meme that we are escalating in Afghanistan intent on ‘disrupting and destroying terrorist groups’…when we all know that they aren’t there? These reasons for escalation are just as intellectually corrupt as the buildup to invade Iraq.

If someone supports trying to defeat the Taliban simply because of their moral temperature when it comes to human rights, fine. Just don’t frame it as an imperative to our national security.

We’ve come full circle with Obama channeling Bush in his invocation of ‘evil’. Just another statist, mainstream, god fearing political clone. So continues a long American tradition (dating back at least to the insurgency battles in the Philippines) of the United States committing troops [or escalating in this case] against an enemy who neither attacked us nor poses a security threat to us. This decision spotlights the Obama Administration as decidedly un-liberal and bringing about little to no ‘hope’ or ‘change’.

All of this occurs at a time when there exists both the rhetoric of the gravest threat to national security and asking not an iota of tangible support from the populace at large. So can someone….anyone….explain to me the rationale for even tepid support of escalation in Afghanistan? Given that nearly all of the rhetoric provided fails to support the reality…does it simply boil down to ‘well at least we’re doing something?’ Even though that something is counter-productive?

Let me get this straight, we can keep all the back-door-dope-deals secret for passing the healthcare bills, and who is to blame for the security lapses on the passengers flying into this country, but we can open up all of our classified secrets? Am I understanding that correctly or am I just missing something here?

Obama orders creation of declassification center

President Obama created by executive order Tuesday a National Declassification Center to oversee efforts to make once-secret government documents public.
The order comes as part of Obama’s promise to push government to err on the side of disclosure as it tackles the need to keep certain information from the public.
In a post on the White House blog, William H. Leary, the senior director of records and access management at the National Security Council, writes that the effort is aimed at shifting the burden of defending secrecy to the government.
“While the Government must be able to prevent the public disclosure of information that would compromise the national security, a democratic government accountable to the people must be as transparent as possible and must not withhold information for self-serving reasons or simply to avoid embarrassment,” Leary wrote.
As a candidate, Obama promised to run the most open and transparent administration ever. He has released White House visitor log data for the first time, though only months after the visits. But his decision not to release some information about detainee torture and his acceptance of closed-door negotations on the health care bill in Congress have brought criticism from good-government groups.
In the executive order, Obama instructs the government not to keep secrets forever, eliminates the ability of intelligence officials to veto declassification decisions, and requires agencies to conduct reviews of their classification procedures.

Is the word “terrorism” acceptable again? Or does this administration finally realize and are they ready to admit that our country is still and continually under terrorist threat. Are they also ready to admit that traveling the world apologizing for what our country does to protect its own people and getting Nobel Peace Prizes for doing nothing is maybe not the best indicator that the World loves us.
