Putting My Country On Notice

There is only so much incompetence, illegal law making, and stupidity I will take. There is only so much my fellow troops will take as well.

I’m going to be all over the map here because there is no logic or reason behind all the crap our Congress is pulling. The first thing that comes to mind are the upcoming hearings into the BCS championship game. Repugnican Senator from Utah, Orin Hatch, and Dumbocratic Senator from Wisconsin, Herb Kohl, recently released the agenda for their Senate Subcommittee on Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights.

The Bowl Championship Series (“BCS”) generates revenue for participating schools at a level that is unmatched in the history of collegiate sports. Even teams that never play in a BCS game are able to reap the financial benefits simply by virtue of their membership in one of the six original BCS conferences. Though the BCS claims to represent all of college football – even going so far as to call the winner of the BCS Championship Game the “National Champion” – the BCS system leaves nearly half of all the teams in college football at a competitive disadvantage when it comes to qualifying for the millions of dollars paid out every year. This system’s critics allege that the system is not only unfair to the football fans throughout the country, but also to the colleges and universities nationwide that depend on revenues from their football teams to fund their other athletic programs. They further argue that, at the very least, a fair system would provide equal opportunity, regardless of conference, for all teams to play their way into one of the BCS’s bowl games and, if they’re good enough, to compete for the national championship. The Subcommittee will hold hearings to investigate these issues, and Senator Hatch will introduce legislation to rectify this situation.

Ladies and gentlemen, in these times of economic crisis, plummeting house prices, disappearing retirement accounts, terrorism, nuclear proliferation, poverty, drugs, etc., our Congress wants to hold hearings ABOUT A FOOTBALL GAME!! Ladies and gentlemen, this is a non-issue. Why? Because the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the official association for college sports doesn’t name a national champion for football. Like rowing, where the NCAA also doesn’t name a national champion, a separate and independent system was created - the BCS. The BCS is a very complicated system of both polls and computerized ranking systems. The combination of all these leads to an INVITATION to the top-ranked teams to participate in the “National Championship”. Since it’s not formally recognized as a national championship by the NCAA, why the hell is our Congress even getting involved. The game draws the two teams that will make the independent BCS and teams the most money.

Our Executive Branch is staffed with people telling me it’s my “patriotic duty” to pay my taxes while refusing to pay their own, only to blame an online software company for the mistakes. I’ve been using TurboTax for years and it isn’t that difficult! The W2 gives you numbers, you put those into the program, and voila! Everything is calculated for you. Unless you willfully neglect to input numbers to save yourself from paying taxes, everything works out perfectly. The program goes over every possible deduction and taxable item known to the largest and most complicated tax code in the world! And we put these people in cabinet positions. We put these people who profit off groups like Freddie Mac in charge of the Executive staff.

Rahm Emanual showed up for meetings six times per year and earned over $350,000 for doing so as a member of the board. I won’t even go into all the Congressional malfeasance associated with Freddie and Fannie. It’s old news.

On Emanuel’s watch, the board was told by executives of a plan to use accounting tricks to mislead shareholders about outsize profits the government-chartered firm was then reaping from risky investments. The goal was to push earnings onto the books in future years, ensuring that Freddie Mac would appear profitable on paper for years to come and helping maximize annual bonuses for company brass.

Next, with no fanfare, we have Congress increasing the number of federally-funded community service positions more than 300% from 75,000 to 250,000. The plan will cost you and me nearly $6 billion!! I’m sorry, but exactly what article or section of the Constitution authorizes the government to do this? Everyone remembers Obama’s eery remarks during the campaign where he mentioned building a civilian corps that will rival the military! This bill will mandate compulsive “voluntary” service by all “able bodied” young people in America. What part of the definition of voluntary includes being forced to do something? This means that my son and daughters will be forced into community service at some point during their childhood! It will “engage students in meeting community needs.” I am all for teaching my children the value of volunteer work. That’s why we’re active in our church and scouts. But, I will NOT allow the government to force my kids to do it. It’s not any different than forcing all 18-year old males into compulsive military service.

The bill undermines the purpose of our National Guard in establishing a “National Service Reserve Corps to prepare and deploy National Service Reserve Corps members to respond to disasters and emergencies.” The bill conveniently strikes mentions of the current “Volunteer Corps” and replaces all such references with the term “Service Corps”, implying that the Corps will no longer be a volunteer program, but a mandatory one. It provides special consideration to targeted section of society and not equally based. So, if you’re “white”, your government doesn’t think you’re important. Instead, it gives special consideration to “historically black colleges and universities”, “Predominantly Black Institutions”, “Hispanic-serving institutions”, and other “community colleges serving predominantly minority populations” - something definitely unconstitutional. Screw you, white people! Again, do you minorities out there really WANT to be catered to? The President, of course, is fully supportive of the program and probably helped Nancy Peloser write it.

Finally, for now, is the subject of reparations! Yup, you and I are going to pay for something that happened that you and I had NOTHING to do with. Not only that, but the money is going to go to people who were never slaves! The “Commission to Study Reparation Proposals for African-Americans Act” was referred to the Subcommittee on the Constitution, Civil Rights, and Civil Liberties last month. You’re not going to believe this crap. The bill is being submitted by none other than *hack *wheeze John Conyers.

Among the findings supporting the bill is that “4,000,000 Africans and their descendants were enslaved in the United States and colonies that became the United States from 1619 to 1865.” Will everyone born into slavery please raise their hands and move to the front of the welfare lines!! Didn’t think so. This bill is nothing more than the opening scenes of attempts to give monetary compensation to people who were supposedly affected by slavery. What about all the European-Americans who came to America in servitude? Where are their “reparations”? The purposes behind this bill, is an attempt to “examine the lingering negative effects of the institution of slavery and the discrimination…on living African-Americans and on society in the United States.” Once that is done, the commission will “recommend appropriate remedies in consideration of the Commission’s findings.” The bill strictly focuses on African slavery. But, what about white slavery?

Nearly 50% of arrivals to Colonial America were white slaves. They were America’s first slaves, as a matter of fact. Most of these slaves were slaves for life. They were sold at auctions separate from their children who were born into slavery. For over 100 years this persisted until the 1800s when such slavery began becoming more and more indentured. Where are the reparations to their descendants? The bill doesn’t reference that aspect of history. Many whites died on the slave ships trying to get to our shores, just as black slaves (ironically solded into slavery by their own race, fellow blacks) did. Black slaves in the north were treated MUCH better than white slaves in the south and yet the bill only want to focus on the treatment of slaves from Africa. And what will the result be of all this “study” of slavery? The commission will answer the following questions that you and I will pay for:

(A) Whether the Government of the United States should offer a formal apology on behalf of the people of the United States for the perpetration of gross human rights violations on African slaves and their descendants.

(B) Whether African-Americans still suffer from the lingering effects of the matters [of slavery]

(C) Whether, in consideration of the Commission’s findings, any form of compensation to the descendants of African slaves is warranted.

(D) If the Commission finds that such compensation is warranted, what should be the amount of compensation, what form of compensation should be awarded, and who should be eligible for such compensation.

You know what this means when we have a Dumbocratic Congress and President, right? Come on! Do we really need to even put up the appearance of “study” or “research” when we all know what the preconceived result will be. Besides, this country has already apologized for slavery - MANY TIMES! President Clinton apolgized in 1998 and President Bush apologized in 2004. How many more apologies does this country need? Or will it be different if a black president apologizes since it was the black man that sold the black man into slavery? And guess what? If this bill passes, the commission has one year to deliver its findings, which would put it in 2010 - AN ELECTION YEAR!! So, THAT’S how the Dumbocrats are going to win the minority vote again! They’re going to BUY it!

I’m fed up folks! I’m absolutely fed up and I’m putting my government on notice. You are going too far in trampling the document that I have pledged my life to protect. I don’t give a damn about each of you when I’m forced to choose between you and that paper that created your job. I have absolutely no qualms about leaving the Army and making it my mission in life to get back to where we’re supposed to be. In the words of Glenn Beck’s Nine Principles, “The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me.” I will never turn my weapon on my fellow American, but I will gladly contribute to removing an authoritarian regime that doesn’t know it’s enumerated powers as outlined in the Constitution. And just so they know what those are, here’s a look:

Section 8 - Powers of Congress

The Congress shall have Power To lay and collect Taxes, Duties, Imposts and Excises, to pay the Debts and provide for the common Defence and general Welfare of the United States; but all Duties, Imposts and Excises shall be uniform throughout the United States;

To make all Laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into Execution the foregoing Powers, and all other Powers vested by this Constitution in the Government of the United States, or in any Department or Officer thereof.

Section 9 - Limits on Congress

The Migration or Importation of such Persons as any of the States now existing shall think proper to admit, shall not be prohibited by the Congress prior to the Year one thousand eight hundred and eight, but a tax or duty may be imposed on such Importation, not exceeding ten dollars for each Person.

The privilege of the Writ of Habeas Corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in Cases of Rebellion or Invasion the public Safety may require it.

No Bill of Attainder or ex post facto Law shall be passed.

(No capitation, or other direct, Tax shall be laid, unless in Proportion to the Census or Enumeration herein before directed to be taken.) (Section in parentheses clarified by the 16th Amendment.)

No Tax or Duty shall be laid on Articles exported from any State.

No Preference shall be given by any Regulation of Commerce or Revenue to the Ports of one State over those of another: nor shall Vessels bound to, or from, one State, be obliged to enter, clear, or pay Duties in another.

No Money shall be drawn from the Treasury, but in Consequence of Appropriations made by Law; and a regular Statement and Account of the Receipts and Expenditures of all public Money shall be published from time to time.

No Title of Nobility shall be granted by the United States: And no Person holding any Office of Profit or Trust under them, shall, without the Consent of the Congress, accept of any present, Emolument, Office, or Title, of any kind whatever, from any King, Prince or foreign State.

Those are very specific about what our Congress, the Legislative branch of government can do, and the 10th Amendment clarifies that for the boneheads that our brilliant founding fathers anticipated we’d have running the nuthouse in D.C. a few hundred years later:

Amendment 10 - Powers of the States and People.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

Note well this. Anything not expressly granted to the Federal government is reserved for the States or the People. Although this amendment is very liberally interpreted, it is one of the tenets of the Constitution. So all this crap about bailing out AIG, the auto industry, banks, etc. is ILLEGAL according to this document!!

So, what can we do? It’ll take four years, but it’s simple. In 2010, we fire EVERY SINGLE CONGRESSMAN up for reelection. Then in 2012, we fire the rest AND the President. That’s every Repugnican, every Dumbocrat, and every Independent. And we start anew. If you’re on Facebook, a new group was created called “Vote Them Out In 2010″. You can go to my profile and see it there.

Before I close, let me also put my country on notice about something. I’m not the only one in the military is fed up with the direction this country has taken. There are LOT of us who are getting very pissed off about how the safety of this country is being used as a political game and we won’t stand for it. Rest assured, I won’t do anything illegal or in violation of established regulations and the UCMJ. But, I WILL stand up for my country when she needs me; it just may not be the way my government wants me to stand up.

  1. CJ as a Constitution loving 74 year old I appreciate your years of service. To salvage our great country I am of the belief that an armed revolt led by the military will be the only salvation. The Congress has totally trashed The Constitution, so your pledge to defend it may be moot. The political prties have bought votes to keep themselves in positions of power by giving our tax dollars to certain groups to aid in this program. They have taught wealth envy and class destinction by indoctrination of the lower income levels that all of their problems are a result of the filthy rich and it is their right to get money and anything else from the filthy rich that they want. It will be up to persons currently in the Services and veterans to rescue the country when armed rebellion comes.

May The L d Our G D bless you, your family and each and every Service member. G D BLESS America!

  2. I’m not sure which part of this disgusted me the most. Each part an abomination in and of itself. But the slavery thing has always been a sore point and I agree, how many times is this country supposed to apologize. As for the reparations, the Dumbocrats feel the need to give them something, there seems to be a plethora of asses in Washington, may I suggest they each get thier own personal ass and call it even?? We no longer have the acreage to play games with, nor now since the asses have spent everything from now till our grandchildren’ s piggie banks are empty and then some, the money to compensate. But then they are the recipients of most of the benefits of all that spending any way so I think we should still call it even after the distribution of said asses.

  3. Count Me In

  4. Bravo! Even with no sleep, you said it perfectly.

  5. I’m fed up, too. It scares the hell out of me, the way this nation is headed. I don’t want it to come to armed rebellion. We need to get the American people to wake up to what is going on, and I think that is happening. Even though the MSM tries to put a positive spin on it for the ruling party (and that’s what the Dems are, when they control the White House and both Houses of Congress), The American people are turning against what they are trying to do. Not all Congressmen are dong wrong. There are some newer members of Congress (Mike Pence to name one) that I’ve been impressed with, with how they speak out about this stuff). Let your representative know you are watching. Also, encourage your state to assert it’s 10th Amendment powers. But, I agree, we need to take steps in the 2010 elections, and then ultimately in 2012. I keep hearing Obama say “by the end of my first term”. BS - not if I have anything to say about it. He assumes - when he says that - that he will have a second. God help us all, if he does…

  6. Well said, CJ

I have never seen anything change so quickly and with so little debate and discussion as the changes Obama and his minions are bringing…

AND, the Service Act also deems September 11 as National Service Day - that way we can eradicate the real meaning. I wonder what the plans are to rename December 7, November 11 and May 30?

  7. Thanks CJ for your candid assessment of whats going on in Washington. I totally agree with you and I also agree with Flag Gazer, I never seen anything change so quickly as the changes Obama and his bunch are bringing. It scares me and I wonder where we are headed as a nation.

About the slavery issue, I don’t think that our generation of people should be responsible for something that our forefathers did years and years ago.
I think that people now should treat ALL people with grace and dignity and apologies from us for something our ancestors did years ago should be enough and people should be big enough to forgive and move on.

  8. Don’t quit the Army, CJ!!! We need men of honor and intelligence like you to lead the young guys and maintain the best military on the planet.

If, however, you decide to run for Congress or the Presidency I’ll be the first in line to work on your campaign!

  9. Well Said CJ. The turn of our current Congress and body politic has been sharp and far left to the point of facism. It has gone well beyond the scope of the enumerated powers. It is no longer even attempting to pretend Constitutionality.

I’m happy with the words of this challenger to one of our “representatives”: http://tennesseetaylorfor6th.blogspot.com/2009/03/behavior-control-through-taxation.html

And while I am also pleased with the 3rd challenger in the race, I have to agree with the TNT assessment that it is not only time for tea parties but mass recall petitions across the Nation.

I don’t know if 2010 is soon enough to stop the madness called the 111th Congress.

  10. This whole Administration has decided to pay back their debt, for getting Obama elected, by paying back their special interest groups and adding the moneybags pork pet projects to the list of things to spend money on in the stimulus and omnibus bill. Obama learned at the knee of Frank Marshall Davis, Was a fan of Malcolm X, followed black lib theo under Wright for 20+ years, and is a legend in his own mind by following Saul Alinsky. Add that to having private dinner parties with Professor Khalidi (Mr. Israel hater/PLO junkie himself), and working with Bill Ayers, and being a lawyer for Acorn issues. We have ourselves a bonafide socialist who wants to push his agenda as far as he can. What I cannot figure out is why so many people find this surprising? It was written in the sky throughout the campaign, people just refused to connect the dots the right way.

The rising up of the working class has started by way of nationwide tea parties, and Glenn Becks 9/12 project. People have begun to fight back against what they see this administrations agenda is for this great country. People all over are standing up and ready to be counted. I applaud them!

  11. Well done, CJ, as usual. I will remark that many things in our nation’s history were seen as possible violtaitons to the Constitution, but ended up having relevance in the end. The Federal Reserve and our agreement to support NATO amoung them.
    NY-David
